An iconic shoe originally released in 1989, the sneak is renowned for its visible Air Max unit, the contrasting 'wings' and high tongue.
Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 arrived at the perfect time for Nike. After the release of the equally iconic Air Jordan 2, Michael Jordan considered leaving Nike to discover what else was out there. Thankfully, Tinker stepped in and delivered the Air Jordan 3 and 4, and we'll be forever grateful for that.
This release will be the fifth for the AJ4 Bred since its debut. The original, released in 1989, was followed by the 1999 edition in a silver box and Nike Air on the heel. However, it was nine long years before the sneak was released again in 2008 during Jordan’s “Countdown Package”. In 2012, the shoes returned once more with a more up to date shoebox and black tissue.
Rumours that the sneak was set to make a comeback had been circling for a while and now sneakerheads will finally be able to cop a pair of one of Jordan’s most sought after sneaks.
This AJ4, also known as Black Cement 4 has a black upper paired with grey accents. A white midsole, black, white and grey accents are finished off by a red sole for ultimate impact.
However, the crowning glory of this sneak is the original logo detailing loved by both Jordan enthusiasts and sneaker lovers paired with the Nike Air logo on the heel making its first appearance since 1999.
As the sneak was originally designed for the court it’s no surprise that the sneak's most iconic moment took place in a basketball court. Known as ‘The Shot’ Michael Jordan hit a series-winning jumper over Craig Ehlo and the Cavaliers.
The jump is considered one of the most critical moments of Jordan’s career and of course during the iconic jump the Jordan logo flashed from under his feet.
