Whilst classic colourways from the Jumpan like ‘Concord’ and ‘Space Jam’ are loved by sneakerheads, the ‘Bred’ colourway is often referred to as the pinnacle of the AJ11 colourways.
This colourway was worn by Jordan during the 1996 NBA Playoffs and through the Chicago Bulls’ unbelievable 72-10 season in 1995/96, making this colourway a must-have for any sneakerhead or sports enthusiast.
Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield and Michael Jordan, this sneak broke all the rules in 1996 as it was the first time that patent leather had been used on a basketball sneaker.
The classic combination of black and red has been offset by a striking white midsole which contains the midfoot carbon fibre plate.
A nylon mesh upper has been paired with smooth leather on the heel and a black patent leather mudguard wrapping over the toe box and the heel, true to the original 1996 Retro Bred, the patent leather has a high cut.
The sneak has been previously re-released in 2001, 2008 and 2012, but the 2019 release of the sneak will resemble the original from 1996 with higher-cut patent leather and the number 23 on the heel- a nod to Michael Jordan’s classic jersey number.
