As part of their 'Move to Zero' campaign we've seen Nike push their sustainability mission to the next level over the past few years with plant-based dyes and recycled materials and the Space Hippie 04 is no different.
As well as being one of the lightest sneaks in the Space Hippie collection, it also has the lowest carbon footprint. From the upper, to the outsole at least 25% of this sneaker is made from recycled material by weight.
The 'Space Waste Yarn' used on the FlyKnit upper of the silhouette is made up of around 75% recycled content including plastic bottles, t-shirts and material scraps. The lightweight yarns have been paired with a bootie fit for snug wear.
A Crater Foam midsole combines a blend of standard Nike foams with Nike Grind rubber made from recycled scrap and end-of-life shoes. As well as making these sneaks super sustainable the Nike Grind midsole creates a unique texture and colour mix on every shoe.
Dropping on Footasylum on Thursday is the Black/Volt colourway of the Space Hippie 04. The knit uppers, laces, tongue labels and pull tabs are all shades of black while exposed Flywire cables, the rear of the collar opening and sockliners add an injection of the Volt colourway.
