Nike Air Force 1

Created by Nike designer Bruce Kilgore, when the Nike Air Force 1 was first launched in 1982, it was discontinued soon after to make way for newer styles. However, four years later the Air Force One was brought back in 1986 due to high demand for the silhouette.

When re-released in 1986 the Nike silhouette was simply marketed as ‘Air in a Box’. It was the first-ever basketball sneaker to feature an air-filled pocket in the heel, issuing players with unrivalled comfort and support on the court.

Nowadays, Nike Air Force 1 has risen through the ranks to become one of the best-selling sneakers of all time, with a plethora of rappers, sports stars, fashionistas and celebrities all stepping out in their AF1s.

The original design of the Air Force 1 featured more mesh on the sides and base of the shoe, but because of the high price point, Nike decided to add more leather. Crafted from premium materials, soft springy cushioning and breathable overlays, Nike Air Force 1 is lightweight and ventilated enough to be a superb summer shoe. The new Air Force 1 weighs 50% less than the original version and adds a little bit of Nike magic to bring it into the 21st century. Since 1986, Nike Air Force 1 has seen multiple adaptations and redesigns in line with other Nike franchises.
