What's happening, Dizzuane? Tell us a bit about yourself!
What's up? I'm Dizzuane, 23 years old. I’m from Baltimore, Maryland (USA) but I'm currently residing in York, Pennsylvania. I love art, sneakers and fashion. Sounds pretty generic but that's my life! Haha.
How long have you been painting footwear for?
I’ve actually only been painting for a year! That goes for both shoes and just in general. I used to do small painting assignments back in grade school but I wasn't a big fan of using a brush. I'd do everything I could not to use one!
When did you first become interested in art?
Well I’ve been interested in art since I was about 13, doing graphics, drawings and clothing. I found it difficult to get my stuff seen, but not so long ago I discovered Instagram.
How would you describe your style? What inspired it?
I developed my 'dripped' style of art about seven years ago in school. It was always what I was most comfortable and natural with creating, and it's a great representation of how I create my work and my personality: Just going with the flow. I've only ever pre-planned about 2 pairs of shoes before painting them. I just get my brushes and my paints and freestyle. Dr. Seuss books and Keith Herring are my biggest art influences.
You've done some dope designs so far. Which is your favourite?
I’m not sure what my best design is, but right now I’m in love with my turquoise and sea foam dripped Air Max and the Stan Smiths I did some work on recently.
Your work's getting some understandable attention at the moment. Are there any celebrities or brands that you have worked with?
I haven't worked with any high profile celebrities just yet but I have had the opportunity to work with the dope artist, Ron Bass, and have customised shoes for fitness personality, Jen Selter, which was also a big deal for me. Mags and websites like Complex, Kicks On Fire, Nice Kicks and Today's Hype have also showed me some love recently which gave me a lot of exposure!
What's the best thing about what you do?
The best thing about what I do is that I can do whatever I want to do. There’s no one that can stop me but me.
You must see a lot of footwear in your line of work. Are you a sneakerhead?
That I do, some I wish I could keep. You could definitely call me a sneaker enthusiast. A lot of people claim to be “sneaker heads” when their kicks game is lacking. I don't get that.
How many pairs of kicks do you own?
I have around 20 - 30 pairs. Not a lot compared to some people.
What’s your favourite silhouette?
I have three favourites! In no particular order: Jordan IV, Puma Disc Blaze and Yeezy 2.
Where can the people hit you up to see some of your work?
I can be found on all social media: Instagram, Twitter, Vine, Snapchat, all that. Catch me at @Dizzuane
What can we expect from you in the future? Any big projects on the go?
I plan on bringing that heat, man! Haha. I have so much to show the world. New products, new art and possibly my first solo art show. I also hope to start highlighting artists and helping them get their art in front of a wider audience.
What words do you live by?
Just go with the flow. Speak what you want into existence.
Thanks for your time, Dizzuane! Loving your stuff. Keep it up!
Thanks again, it was dope creating for you guys. I look forward to working together again in the future.
