If you're a sneakerhead you'll already know that today is one of the biggest days in Nike's calendar. Today is Air Max Day and although most events are taking place virtually this year there is still one way to get involved irl by 'copping one of the fire releases to mark the big day. 

This year we've got the release of the Nike Air VaporMax Evo "Anthracite" and it's the perfect celebration of all those Air Max models which have come before.

Putting the Air Max DNA under the microscope this Air Max Day release of the VaporMax Evo features pops of anthracite, white, midnight navy and tech grey making it the ultimate trainer for wear all year round.
 


You might recognise the silhouette from its initial release earlier this month but if not we've got the lowdown on why this sneak is such a celebration of the Air Max lineage.

Inspired by seven iconic Nike silhouettes the VaporMax Evo merges history with innovation. Fusing the Air Max 90, 93, 96, Tuned 99, Solas, 180+ and Air Max Plus the Evo lets you bring the best of the past into the present with a bold futuristic look.

Maximise the power of Air with a VaporMax sole. Featuring next-level responsive cushioning and one single Air unit featuring connected pockets of Air which alters the pressure points underneath the foot as the air moves through the unit.
 


Moulded synthetic overlays inspired by the Air Max 96 II combine with a synthetic and mesh upper and a plush foam midsole from the Air Max Solas 2005 provides responsive cushioning that stays feeling comfortable all day, letting your feet look and feel good.
 
One of the most noticeable design features is the 'whale tail' shank from the Air Max Plus which has been shifted further back to add support whilst still honouring the iconic beach-inspired aesthetic.

As well as the icon inspired silhouette the Nike VaporMax Evo comes in a unique shoebox that has been created using a mash-up of previous Air Max boxes, the shoe also comes with a booklet that delves deeper into the VaporMax Evo's DNA.
