Just yesterday, Warner Brothers officially announced Space Jam 2, the sequel to one of the most iconic movies in history.
After saying he’d be interested in a new Space Jam movie a while ago, Nike ambassador, Lebron James, has been confirmed as a cast member, filling Michael Jordan’s shoes as the lead role.
Released a whole 20 years ago in 1996, the original Space Jam saw animation meet live action, teaming MJ up with the Looney Tunes for an intergalactic basketball game of epic proportions. Raking in $230 million from across the globe, it became the highest grossing basketball movie of all time. Will Space Jam 2 take that title?
The film will be directed by Justin Lin (best known for The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift) and written by Andrew Dodge. No word on a release date yet (although you can bet it’s at least a year or two off).
Keep it locked to The Lowdown for more Space Jam news as it happens.
