Nike Lunar Safari Fuse +

Nike are regularly criticised by old-school silhouette devotees for tainting their favourite releases, and, to some, hybrid sneakers are bad news; no different than sabotaging the spawn of a pedigree pooch by throwing it into bed with a high street mongrel. This year it is the turn of the Air Safari – or the Lunar Safari, should we say...

The Lunar Safari is the result of the 1987 Tinker Hatfield classic receiving a contemporary facelift as a friendly 25th birthday present from Nike, and despite what the purists might say, we say fair play! When it comes to reinventing a classic, the vintage treatments haven’t washed too well with many from the original Nike running roster – Take the 2012 QS Air Max Light, for example – and if you have the technology, then you might as well use it.
