The innovators of the sweatshirt. Our streetwear wardrobe would look a lot different without Russell Athletic. Started in 1902, the brand originally had 10 sewing machines and 8 knitting machines, and created uniforms for teams and apparel for athletes throughout the United States.
However, the turning point for the brand was in 1930 when the Russell Athletic sweatshirt was created. Founder Ben Russell’s son, Benny, proposed a new idea for an all-cotton football jersey replacing the uncomfortable wool uniforms. Knowing how comfy and durable cotton is the sweatshirt was born.
Now the brand makes athletic wear that looks just as good on the streets as it does on the tracks. Footasylum's collection of Russell Athletic t-shirts, joggers and sweatshirts is the perfect place to find some new wardrobe essentials.
