An Air Max silhouette that famously uses as little Air as possible, the Nike Air VaporMax is a pioneer in its field.
First released in 2017, the design for the Nike VaporMax followed seven years of research into utilising Air and incorporating it into a silhouette’s sole by designers Tom Minami and Zachary Elder. An innovative sneaker that focuses on pressure maps of the foot, designers worked to support the stride of a runner by using as little Air as possible but using it wisely. Complete with the use of a Flyknit upper, the Air Max VaporMax is a lightweight sneaker that works as both a running and lifestyle shoe.
Featuring one single Air unit made up of connected pockets of less pressurised Air, the VaporMax is one of the most lightweight Air Max silhouettes. As Air moves through the single unit the pressure point underneath the foot gives the effect of a piston, giving every step an extra boost.
Nike Air Vapormax Plus
Released in celebration of Air Max Day 2018, the Nike Air Vapormax Plus merges the sneak’s full-length Air Unit with the upper of the Air Max Plus. Featuring a neoprene upper, TPU caging, and the iconic full-length VaporMax Air unit which looks fresh with a Nike Tracksuit or a pair of shorts. With classic all-white and triple black colourways, the VaporMax Plus is step up in footwear.
Nike Air VaporMax 360
Released in 2020, the Air VaporMax 360 is the hybrid we'd all been waiting for. Remember the Air Max 360? You're favourite sneak of 2006? The VaporMax 360 is here to bring it back. Taking the upper from the Air Max 360 and combining it with the VaporMax sole was always going to be a winner. A synthetic upper and patent take over the upper of the shoe down to the mudguard which is paired with a lightweight TPU frame wrapping around the heel and Air unit. The futuristic-looking sneaker is paired with the VaporMax Air Unit for a clean finish and unique silhouette.
Nike Air VaporMax 2020
The latest iteration of the VaporMax line takes the best of the previous VaporMax models, and adds brand new sustainable and inclusive features that break new ground in Nike’s mission for a circular sneaker economy at a time when social responsibility trumps athletic performance. The VaporMax 2020 retains the futuristic silhouette of previous VaporMax designs but with a more sustainable twist. The iconic Air Unit is made up of a minimum 75% recycled TPU proving that even at the highest level, performance technologies don’t have to be wasteful.
