Yohji Yamamoto was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1943. After graduating from Keio University with a degree in law in 1966, he entered Bunkafukuso Gakuin Design School and graduated in 1969, when he began his outstanding career as one of fashion’s top designers.
Yohji began Y's, his first women's collection, in 1972 and by 1977 he was conducting fashion shows in Tokyo. Y's Menswear collection burst on to the scene shortly afterwards in 1979.
The collaboration between renowned Japanese fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto and the authentic sports brand adidas has revolutionised the industry, creating a new category in fashion. Y-3 represents design, true craftsmanship, and the future of sportswear.
