20 years in the making, Nike pair the forward-thinking innovation of the VaporMax with the nostalgia-inducing waves of the TN in the VaporMax Plus.

At first glance, it’s not immediately obvious why these two silhouettes belong together. The Air Max Plus (celebrating its 20th birthday this year) was a street phenomenon on its release - its aggressive colour blocking, exoskeleton and chunky midsole found a home with the inner-city youth across the country.

It wasn’t all about disrupting tried and tested aesthetics though. The Air Max Plus is probably more widely known as the TN – derived from the then all-new ‘Tuned Air’. Always looking for new ways to innovate, Nike devised a method of reducing the pressure of the air units without compromising stability. The result was Nikes most comfortable runner to date, and the next step in the company’s cushioning innovation.

Fast-forward 19 years and the VaporMax shook things up again, delivering the standout silhouette of 2017. Stripping back all unnecessary structural elements, visually the VaporMax sole unit is a radical departure from previous Air Max models. The result is the lightest, most flexible and most comfortable Air cushioning ever.

We linked up with MoStack to tell the story of a modern hybrid through its adopted home: the streets of London.
