On Trend Fashion Themes for Men in 2013

Men’s fashion themes for 2013 are already being displayed on the catwalks and look set to filter down to the high street after January. However with winter not yet over men are sure to see a continuation of existing fashion themes throughout the coming months, so blending the old and the new is essential for any fashion conscious man who’s looking to move his wardrobe seamlessly into Spring.

Winter Fashions for Men

Winter is always a time to wrap up warm and fashion for men in 2012 was all about stylising knitwear and heavy fabrics. In addition, the resurgence of denim saw designers coming up with inventive ways to wear casual fabrics as both evening and work wear.

The theme for winter 2012 was much as it had been throughout the entire year; vintage style with a modern twist. This was reflected in the key autumn and winter colours of burnt orange, maroon, olive green, dark tan leather and stone washed denim. These colours made appearances across a wide range of styles, from preppy collegiate to casual hipster, and were accessorised in a multitude of different ways.

New accessory trends saw the comeback of men’s jewellery in the form of bracelets, necklaces and the more traditional cufflinks and watches. Footwear remained much the same as it had in the previous months, featuring tailored and casual styles which ranged from the urban cool of mens Nike Blazers to effortlessly chic Chelsea boots.

2013 Spring Fashions for Men

The tail end of 2012 has seen men’s fashion featuring more colour than it had before, in the form of plaid shirts, over sized check patterns and bold block colours. Patterns are being mixed to great effect, as long as they maintain the same colour palette throughout. Knitwear is staying strong in the shape of cardigans and V-neck vests; and more detailing and fresh new colours will be seen in trousers which will pay homage to the vintage styles of the 40s and 50s.

Just as with women’s fashion, there will be a few key colours to look out for in men’s fashion for 2013. Blue is big; rich navy, deep Monaco blue and royal hues have all been seen on the catwalks already and can be worn either as an accessory or from head to foot in the form of sharp tailoring.

Moving Your Wardrobe into the New Year

Men’s fashion for 2013 will certainly be seeing some changes, but there are a few elements which will remain the same. Tailoring should be vintage inspired but remain sharp, and casual attire needs to have a polished tone which will take it easily from the day time to the night.
