Girls Got Boots
Behind the Scenes
Tell us a bit about yourself?
Well my full name is Constance, so my music name is Connie Constance, I never know what to call myself – so I go for both! I’m 19, living in North London but originally from a village in Hertfordshire.
What do you love most about what you do?
When all the hard work comes together! I enjoy the working, but then when you hear the song afterwards or just even in development stages and you’re like “ahh that sounds really cool!
How did you get involved in music?
I’ve always sung and then I started doing open mic nights with my flatmate because he plays guitar. Then when I met my boyfriend, he introduced me to a couple of producers and we started to work on music.
How would you describe your music?
I’d say I was a cross between Amy Winehouse and Lily Allen, quite British, keeping it real to London.
How would you describe your style?
A bit quirky, I pick up whatever and throw it together.
What’s your favourite trainer at the moment? Anything you’ve got your eye on?
Well from today’s shoot, I actually really like the Adidas Stan Smiths, they’re so cool - they’re proper classics!
We’re all about girls with skills, what are your talents?
I’m a singer, I also dance and I draw.
What’s an average day for you?
Wake up, get dressed, obviously have to have a shower but getting dressed is the best part, I love clothes especially picking out what to wear. Then I’m either on a modelling job or chilling out, drawing or I might have work, I work in a theatre, which is fun! Then in the evening I’ll be in the studio, putting the work in!
What has been your best work moment so far?
Probably my first ever gig, it was at Surya Kings Cross at a night called Sing Out Loud Sundays and it was really cool.
Who would you like to work with?
Probably a rapper like Chance The Rapper or Frank Ocean.
Do you take that style to the stage too or do you have a different look?
No, I keep it all the same - keep it real to myself.
How did you get involved with modelling?
When I was really young, my Uncle signed me up with a London agency but I didn’t grow! So I went on to a kid’s agency and I worked with them for quite a while and then I saw the Anti Agency and thought they were sick, I needed to be with them!
Tell us about yourself:
I’m Sara, I’m from Poland and I’m 19. I’m a music producer, a model and also a student.
What do you love the most about what you do?
I just love the creativity, I’m a creative person and I just like to express what’s going on inside my head in to what I do.
What’s been a particular highlight for you?
Just the people I’ve met so far, I’ve met some of my best friends through it and I can learn from them and just evolve as a musician. Just seeing that development from where I started to where I am now and being really proud of myself.
How would you describe your personal style?
Boyish, oversized, baggy and black.
How did you get into modelling?
I’ve wanted to get in to modelling since I was little and just worked a lot, doing test shoots for photographers just to get recognised. Lots of hard and free work. I do really enjoy it, it’s great to team up with other creative people and have fun on the shoot!
So you’re a busy girl, what’s a typical day in your life like?
Everyday is different depending on what I’ve got on. I’ve finished college now and will be heading off to uni in September but a usual day is either making music or just chilling with friends, working, casting, general running around London.
So how did you get involved with music production?
I was always just surrounded by music, a lot of my friends became DJs or started producing, so I just thought why not give it a go… and it’s stayed like that!
Who would you like to work with?
I’m not good at thinking on the spot but maybe Chance The Rapper.
What’s your favourite trainer at the moment?
I go through phases, I’ve been wearing my Nike Air Force 1 a lot recently but that’s because they’re easy to wear and go with everything! I do like the Roshe Runs at the moment though, so comfy!
