The adidas Originals Yung 1 embodies a youthful energy. It’s multi-layered, cushioned and dynamic design moves to the energetic wearer. Someone who is always on their feet, but always wants to look good doing so. It came as no surprise that the face of Footasylum’s Yung 1 campaign would be the most buoyant music artists on the scene: NSG.

Zipping through the gargantuan warehouse which once housed an assortment of aircrafts, NSG’s Kruddz rode fast on a mini motorbike trying to avoid anyone who stood in his way. The motorbike isn’t the only fun prop in use today. Bouncy balls, space hoppers, dollar bills and confetti canons were on standby. Everything screamed fun at the set. After gathering the boys during a much-needed breather, we caught up on a summer of festivals, their massive social media presence and building the foundations of their musical career.

FA: We are here on an airfield in Bicester on a pretty fun set. Are you excited to be here?

Mojo-NSG: We are so excited to be here. We are the most fun people you will ever meet.

FA: We’re shooting the Yung 1 and, you guys are always wearing the freshest creps on stage. Who has the most sneakers out of all of you?

Pappi-NSG: I don’t know. We all have a lot. Probably OGD, he has bare creps.
OGD-NSG: Come on man, I’ve got them all. All the grails you know. They wish they had my creps.

FA: This year has been quite busy for you guys. This summer you are performing at loads of festivals, you’ve got wireless coming up this weekend. How is the festival scene for you guys compared to normal gigs?

Pappi-NSG: Everything. Like normal gigs, festivals, big gigs- we shut it down. The difference is like, festivals are bigger. I enjoy it more. Everyone that’s there, they’re off their head, having a good time. There is a video online of us going from OT to Options. It went off.

FA: Your online presence is massive. You always seem to dominate social media.

Pappi-NSG: Look look, there’s proof. They’re all on social media right now. They’re glued on, they’re active.

FA: How important is social media to you? Is it a big part of how you became viral?

Kruddz-NSG: It’s played a big part. In this day and age, the generation we are in, you can find anything on social media. Trump won the election with social media. He still uses social media loads. Everything is on socials, don’t underestimate.

FA: You all say, your aim is to reach global domination. Would you say you are there yet? You and your sound are very recognisable now.

NSG: *All at the same time* Woah far from.
Pappi-NSG: When we say global, we mean global global. We are just building the foundations right now. The UK isn’t even finished yet.
Dope-NSG: Literally all age groups as well. Like Michael Jackson global. We’re not joking. I bet the dads out there know Westlife, but they don’t know us yet.

FA: Supporting Drake at o2 must’ve been a big highlight and push in your career too.

Pappi-NSG: o2 arena, well o3. It was lit. After performing with Drake, there were tweets after, where we were in the same sentence as Drake and J Cole. It’s energy names right there. Just to grace that stage with those names, wow. Big up J Cole, he’s my boy.

FA: You guys are all high energy. Loads of fun. Lots of action all the time. Do you ever take a break?

Kruddz-NSG: I don’t take breaks no more. What’s the point in having a break? There is no point. You’re gonna rest when you die.
Pappi-NSG: Sometimes you have to take a break and unwind. Hibernate and sleep at night. When I’m awake I’m always active.

FA: You always say NSG is a lifestyle, not a collective. So how does one achieve and live the NSG life.

Pappi-NSG: You are living the NSG lifestyle. If you are non-stop grinding then you are living the NSG lifestyle. You work hard and don’t wanna stop because that is your journey. Non Stop Grinding- that is NSG.

The Amsterdam based designer has enhanced the instantly recognisable DNA of adidas with her latest offering, by incorporating a tonal palette with a range of 90s silhouettes, reviving the classic three stripes before our eyes.

The collection of must-have apparel includes a mixture of tracksuits, blazers and shorts, all designed with an androgynous twist on classic 90s silhouettes.

Launch: Converse Renew

In the same week that Glastonbury revealed their plastic-free policy saved 1 million plastic bottles from going to landfill and Sir David Attenborough managed to make thousands of festival goers silent while he talked about plastic usage on the Pyramid stage, we present to you the latest release from Converse- Converse Renew.

If you haven't guessed from the name and topical intro, Converse's latest release rethinks waste, with each canvas pair being made from 11 recycled plastic bottles. Which is an incredible move towards creating more readily available sustainable fashion.

Converse has always been one step ahead on the design front, and this new reincarnation of the classic canvas Chuck Taylor Ox and High Top is no different. Opening a new chapter, with a new sustainable era, Converse are hoping to make sustainable fashion more accessible.

The Renew chapter proves how Converse are dedicated to experimenting and creating new ways for sneakerheads to be a little more environmentally friendly while still repping the freshest trends.

Dropping on the 5th July, the Converse Renew Canvas features recycled Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) created from millions of plastic bottles that are put in the bin day to day. The sneaks still have the same feel as the original chucks but their 100% recycled plastic construction means you can feel a bit better wearing them.

Launching in six different colourways in a range of Ox and High Top styles for both men and women, these sneaks are perfect for summer and you can do your bit while wearing them too.

Each labelled with the new Converse Renew slogan, 'Life is too short to waste', these sneaks are the first of many Converse renew packs planned. The brand are later planning on releasing Renew Denim, made using denim jeans that have been diverted from landfills and Renew Cotton, crafted using cotton canvas waste from the manufacturing process to create a 40 percent recycled cotton with polyester to form a new yarn.

Launch: Nike Air Max 270 React

Interview: Snoochie Shy

We're pretty sure if you looked up girl power in the dictionary Snoochie Shy's name would be underneath. This lady is killing it and recently became the new face of the latest Footasylum Women's campaign with Converse.

Also known as Cheyenne Davide, Shy already has a pretty long list of achievements and milestones- and she's only 25. Goals!

Shy previously hosted the breakfast show on Radar Radio before joining the team at BBC 1Xtra and becoming a host on YO MTV raps in Sept 2018. She has also live-hosted major events including MOBO awards red carpet and 'Grime-A-side'.

You can also find Shy on the airwaves between 11pm and 1am Monday- Thursday with her own show on BBC 1XtraSnoochie currently hosts her own show on BBC 1Xtra. Oh, she's also a model too and travels around the world DJing.

We caught up with the all-round superwoman while shooting the latest Footasylum Women's x Converse campaign around Manchester and she seemed pretty excited to be rocking a reimagined classic Chuck Taylor.

What do you love about DJing?

DJing is so fun! I love music, so getting to play it out to people and seeing them enjoy themselves is the sickest feeling. Emotions wise, I'm always super nervous before a set to the point I have like 10 minutes silence to myself but as soon as I get the first mix out the way, the nerves go and I end up on a mad high.

Tell us what you think being creative means.

A creative to me is someone who creates art that also manages to bring out their individuality. Your brain is always thinking and you're constantly coming up with new ideas. When you see your vision come to life you get a buzz off it.

What does the future hold for you?

By constantly developing new ideas and just growing as a person. There's so much I want to do and I'm not even halfway there yet. But doing creative stuff excites me, so I'm always up for a challenge.

What do you love so much about Converse?

Converse is such a sick shoe, especially the original chucks. I just feel they have a huge sense of nostalgia to them. I'm a 90s baby, so for me, these creps scream 90's. Also, you can wear Converse with anything so it's LIT!

Launch: Shox R4 Neymar Jr

After the Nike Shox R4 bounced back onto the scene two weeks ago, Nike has released the latest colourway of the classic noughties shoe with a bit of help from Brazilian professional footballer Neymar Jr.

Our first sneak peek of the collaboration was teased on Neymar’s Instagram account last month and, from that tiny glimpse, we knew these were going to be the shoes of the summer.

In some corners of the world, the R4 was seen as the “it” shoe, and in Sâo Paolo, it brings back memories of Neymar Jr’s childhood. As a kid in Brazil, Neymar Jr’s dream sneakers
were Nike Shox. Knowing he couldn’t afford a pair from the official store he did the next best thing and went to the local market. Fast forward to today and after years of hard work to get to the top he now has his own signature pair. Speaking about the initial release of the sneak almost 20 years ago Neymar has said: “They were like a shoe of the future.”

The two colourways cater for every Shox lover out there, whether you prefer a classic white colourway or a bolder neon sneak. If you’re looking for the ultimate summer 2019 sneak, then the neon is the one for you. Inspired by the colours from a watermelon the bright colourway celebrates the markets around Sâo Paulo, Brazil, Neymar Jr’s hometown.

Bold red and green tones are paired with black overlays to create a sneak which perfectly represents the Brazilian forward. Aside from the pretty out there colour scheme, the sneak has an interesting set of intricate details not seen on Shox before. The standard Swoosh sneakerheads know and love has been removed and replaced by a smaller inverted design by the mudguard while the classic Shox branded ‘Z’ logo has been moved on its side to convert it to an ‘N’ to honour the shoe’s designer. The look is then completed by red foam columns and a black outsole.

If you are looking for a more classic look then Neymar’s silver colourway is probably the sneak for you. A nod to the sneaker’s first launch 20 years ago, Neymar’s second colourway is more muted but still make a huge statement. An off-white upper is paired with metallic detailing and reflective touches. The design is then finished off with red elements including the signature Shox columns and Neymar Jr.’s name on the tongue and the footbed. The springy shoes are one of the most popular sneaks in Neymar’s hometown of Brazil so if you’re going to trust anyone to design a fresh pair of sneaks then it has to be Neymar.

We've got another Jordan release for you this weekend and if you're looking for a bold sneak for the summer then this release is for you. Introducing the Air Jordan 1 Mid in University Gold.

The limited colourway lands on Saturday 25th May at 8am so make sure you set your alarms and get ready to cop the hottest sneaks on offer this summer.

If you haven't already noticed, the sneak is covered in a bright shade of yellow pretty much from top to bottom. Affectionately known as 'Yellow Taxi' by sneakerheads this colourway just screams summer. We did it. We made it to summer and it is finally time to invest in some new poolside apparel to make sure you look fresh while catching those rays. Launch: Nike Shox R4

2000 was a pretty important year, we'd just celebrated the turn of a new millennium, Venus Williams became the first black woman to win the Women’s Singles title at Wimbledon and the first crew was launched to the International Space Station.

However, there was one historical event that shaped streetwear forever- Nike Shox went on sale. That's right everyone's favourite sneak from the noughties was released 19 years ago and now they are being re-released for a whole new generation to enjoy.

Launching on Thursday 16th May, Nike is bringing back the boing with the Nike Shox R4, in both a white and triple black colourway. The sneak boasts a pretty sleek silhouette while incorporating the famous bulky Shox pillars, exposing the classic shoe to a whole new generation of sneakerheads.

With the sneak being released in black and white, they are bound to become your ultimate summer 2019 sneak. The Shox's most noticeable feature is the foam columns underneath the heel, which provide much-needed comfort and an added bounce. The columns were the result of 10 years worth of research by Nike super designer Bruce Kilgore.

Inspired by indoor track sprinters who appeared to 'bounce' with each stride, Bruce, along with engineers began to conduct biomechanical experiments with the aim of optimising energy return with each step. Before Shox became what they are today Nike experimented with adding steel springs to a running shoe to see if it would improve running economy.

They continued testing a variety of springs and hinges through the 80s until 1997 when they discovered that twin plates with foam columns worked best. The running shoes first rose to fame on the track but it wasn't long before they were spotted on the streets. The sneak and its bounce remain a firm fan favourite and now you can be part of the revival.

The Lowdown on Tinker Hatfield

In the world of sneaks, Tinker Hatfield is a household name, but to the rest of the mere mortals, who exactly is Tinker Hatfield?

Hatfield is famed for his innovative designs with the biggest sporting brand in the world – Nike. Currently operating as Nike’s Vice President for Design and Special Projects, Hatfield has worked his way up through the ranks for nearly 40 years. Here, we take a closer look at the architect’s journey through Nike, including some of his best designs and creations.

Hatfield joined Nike in 1981 and began working on shoe design just four years later. Coming from an architectural background, he was able to merge these technical skills with his keen eye for detail and undiscovered love of trainers. He quickly went on to design some of the world’s fastest selling sneakers from the Nike Air and Air Jordan collections.

After spotting a trend in gym goers packing multiple shoe styles to switch between when changing activity, Hatfield saw an opportunity to create a shoe that will take you from running to basketball to cycling to weights. Tinker created the entire Cross Training franchise, forever changing the way we train in the gym. And not to be forgotten, he has also played an undeniably huge role in the design and manipulation of the Original Nike Air Max line and some of the most iconic Air Jordan sneaks.

With all this under his belt, it’s fair to say he is the footwear industries most accomplished visionary.

Launch: Air Jordan 4 Retro Bred

The latest addition to our Jordan collection is possibly the greatest. Landing on the 4th May is the Air Jordan 4 Retro Bred and you won’t want to miss out.

An iconic shoe originally released in 1989, the sneak is renowned for its visible Air Max unit, the contrasting 'wings' and high tongue.

Designed by Tinker Hatfield, the Air Jordan 4 arrived at the perfect time for Nike. After the release of the equally iconic Air Jordan 2, Michael Jordan considered leaving Nike to discover what else was out there. Thankfully, Tinker stepped in and delivered the Air Jordan 3 and 4, and we'll be forever grateful for that.

This release will be the fifth for the AJ4 Bred since its debut. The original, released in 1989, was followed by the 1999 edition in a silver box and Nike Air on the heel. However, it was nine long years before the sneak was released again in 2008 during Jordan’s “Countdown Package”. In 2012, the shoes returned once more with a more up to date shoebox and black tissue.

Rumours that the sneak was set to make a comeback had been circling for a while and now sneakerheads will finally be able to cop a pair of one of Jordan’s most sought after sneaks.

This AJ4, also known as Black Cement 4 has a black upper paired with grey accents. A white midsole, black, white and grey accents are finished off by a red sole for ultimate impact.

However, the crowning glory of this sneak is the original logo detailing loved by both Jordan enthusiasts and sneaker lovers paired with the Nike Air logo on the heel making its first appearance since 1999.

As the sneak was originally designed for the court it’s no surprise that the sneak's most iconic moment took place in a basketball court. Known as ‘The Shot’ Michael Jordan hit a series-winning jumper over Craig Ehlo and the Cavaliers.

The jump is considered one of the most critical moments of Jordan’s career and of course during the iconic jump the Jordan logo flashed from under his feet.

Launch: AJ1 Low Black Toe

Since its debut in 1985, the Air Jordan 1 Low has become one of the most recognised and worn sneaks worldwide. Designed by Nike for basketball legend Michael Jordan, the AJ1 Low was the first low-top sneak to be created for the sportsman.

Now Footasylum presents our latest addition to our Jordan collection- the Air Jordan 1 Low Black Toe. Set to launch on Saturday 27th April this sneak is a must have for your summer wardrobe.

This colourway was one of the ten original Air Jordan 1 High colourways to be released in 1985 meaning this sneak will give off some serious retro vibes for summer 2019.

After the huge popularity of the Black Toe high top, Jordan has decided to transfer the colourway to their Low silhouette this year and keep most of the original features from 1985.

There are of course a few tweaks which prove that Jordan is a brand that can adapt and appeal to current trends. White leather is used as the base, while black nubuck is used in place of the standard black leather from the high top version.

Of course, the Jumpman makes itself known and a contrasting white logo appears on the black tongue as well as a more understated stitched ball and wings logo on the heel.

Exclusive to Footasylum, the Air Jordan 1 University gold colourway is set to launch on Saturday 13th April and you're definitely going to want to cop a pair of these.

The latest Jordan drop has been inspired by the original low Jumpman from 1985, which was the first low-top sneak designed by Nike for on-court legend Michael Jordan. Designed by Peter Moore the low sneaker had a simple design including the Swoosh and Jordan Wings logo.

This latest black, white and gold colourway will get you noticed on and off the court. The AJ1 Low University Gold also recognises the link between the Air Jordan 1 and skateboarding, as skate was one of the first subcultures to repurpose the silhouette.

As a nod to skate culture, the latest AJ1 has a suede upper in a variety of classic Jumpman colours. With their signature sail colour on the toe box and quarter, while the overlays are split between black on the mudguard and eyestays.

Get to know Jasmine Lasode

Last year, to celebrate Air Max Day 2018, Nike launched the On Air competition- giving shoe fans the chance to design their own Swoosh to go on sale for summer 2019.

Nike fans across the globe were then trusted to narrow down the entries to six different designs, each from different cities.

London’s winner Jasmine Lasode designed a pair of fresh sneaks named The Summer of Love. The Air Max 97's have an on-trend neon colourway and a hidden tribute to Jasmine's girlfriend and we can't wait to cop a pair on the 13th April.

We caught up with Jasmine ahead of the release of her trainer to see how she feels about designing her very own Swoosh.

Outside of what you’ve done recently what else are you into? We’ve seen on your Instagram all the graphics you’ve done for the Party People, do you want to just tell us a bit about that?

Yeah, so I am a graphic designer I do freelance and stuff like that. My main goal apart from this whole shoe thing is to have my own brand out there. Party People is one of my new projects at the moment. It’s for the party people, I like my music I like people. I just want to make not necessarily just clothing, branch it out to accessories maybe? Do a bit more. For the people.

Going back to how this all came around what made you enter London on Air in the first place?

The reason I entered London Air is that my friend sent me the application, and she said: “you should try this”. So I thought why not? I looked at the application and it looked fun so I filled it out thinking that no one was actually going to see it. But I got through so I was like “oh wow”.

Do you feel like you put a lot of effort and time into it or did you just think this would be cool, I’ll shoot it off?

When I first applied I thought this would be cool, shoot it off. There was a question, that asked what was your inspiration, and I said, my girlfriend. I don’t think I would have said that if I knew what I’d got myself into.

So tell us about the design process and what each element of the trainer really means to you?

This shoe is quite personal really it’s kind of a memory in a shoe. So you have the 97p going across one of the stripes which I took massive inspiration from those price tags in off licences from. They are coloured card, normally neon which is kind of where the colour comes in. But it says like 89p, I don’t know, you’ve got Yam for 99p and the shoe is obviously a 97 so that’s where the 97 comes from and the p comes from the price tags in an off licence.

The colourway is very summer, good vibes, party people vibes and that also come from the shop price tags too. You’ve got Air 247, obviously, this is an Air Max and 24/7, off licenses are mostly 24/7. Also on one shoe you’ve got closed and the other you’ve got open so that has an off licence feel. ‘Good Chat’ on the back of the shoe is actually my girlfriend's nickname, when we first ever met, she saved her name as ‘Lauren good chat’ on my phone and now still in my phone it’s ‘Lauren good chat’ so I thought this shoe is based on a memory we shared so why not have her on the shoe?

The shoe’s going to be there forever as well.

Yeah, we can’t break up now.

You spoke about the elements from the off licenses and the London colours and summer vibes, but why the Summer of Love?

Because that summer, the Summer of Love was when we first got together and I love her. Obviously, it’s in summer, summer is my favourite time of the year, I’m a summer baby so that’s my time.

When you got told that you won do you remember where you were? How did you even get told?

So when the voting was going on, half a day it would change who was in the lead. When it cut off I didn’t know if I was in the lead. So I got a call from Nike in London and they told me to come in. They said all the winners were coming in, they said you’re going to come and we’re going to speak to you.

So I didn’t know what I was coming in for because they said they were doing it with all them. I sat down in the room with three Nike team members and one of them was smiling. I thought ‘have I won, no have I?’ And then she was like thanks, you did really well and I thought ‘oh I’ve not won I can’t believe it’ and then she was kind of like Simon Cowell vibes and then they told me on the spot in the office that I won. I couldn’t believe it really.

How did you react?

I was shocked, I didn’t try and rein it in at all. I was very surprised.

So the big question what is the Nike World HQ like?

It was a mad experience; the Nike HQ was a mad experience. When I got there I didn’t realise how huge it was. There’s a room of history and it was really interesting to see all the different elements and all the Nike shoes in the past and how many there really are. Some shoes I’d never seen before. But it was such a memorable experience.

Talk us through the production process, was there anything that surprised you?

This process has been nearly a year now, the production for me I thought was quite quick. The first sample which was different from this one, the time that was changed wasn’t long at all. It was like that’s number one change that and that, oh there’s number two.

I have massive respect for the whole production of the shoe. The colours, I didn’t realise how perfect they could get colours. It’s such a bright orange and I wanted a bright orange and they did what I asked them to do.

Was there anything that surprised you?

Not really, it was pretty streamlined, Nike is very streamlined.

Have you carried on designing since and has winning the competition ignited any hidden passion for designing shoes?

I have continued designing since. I have projects I’m getting into for the Party People, there’s another brand my girlfriend and I want to do but this whole process kind of re-inspired me to do my own thing. Not many people see my work but this shoe, a lot of people have seen it. Actually realising people like what I do has kind of given me more confidence within my work to go on to venture to do other stuff. I wouldn’t say no to another shoe design at all Summer Love part two, but I’d love to do something with shoes after this situation.

How will you be celebrating the release of your first shoe design?

I’m going to celebrate the release with a massive party. This whole situation has been a year, but I want to celebrate with all my friends with good vibes, have fun just throw a party.

What’s next for you and can we expect any more designs?

What is next? I don’t know what next is really, definitely continue designing, get some of my old stuff out to the world. You might see shoes, you might not, I can’t tell you.

The Air Jordan 1 Low made it's debut back in 1985 and was the first low-top sneak designed by Nike for basketball legend Michael Jordan. Created by Jordan 1 super designer Peter Moore the low sneaker had a simple design including the Swoosh and Jordan Wings logo.

Making its return in the 2000s the Air Jordan 1 Low has stayed true its simple design but is still one of the OG's of sportswear for the street and it is no different with the latest colourway.

Launching on Saturday 6th April is the Air Jordan 1 White/Gum which draws some inspiration from skate culture while staying true to its classic design. Certain to be your choice of summer sneak this pair of Jordan's has an unusual colour palette that will help you make a statement.

A gum coloured suede with a beige hue makes up the midsole of the shoe and paired with a white tongue, white laces and black lining it sounds like everything you've come to expect from the Jumpman.

However, Jordan has mixed it up for summer with a hyper pink sole that demands attention and gets you noticed for all the right reasons.

Yep, you read that right – the Footasylum Drive Thru has finally landed!

After months of top secret planning we are excited to finally bring you the first ever sneaker drive thru. Opening this Friday 5^th April, the Manchester based drive thru is set to be the first of many, making topping up your trainer collection quicker and smoother than ever before.

Much like your favourite fast food, you simply drive up to the first window, pick and pay for your trainers and proceed to the next window to await your shiny new sneaks. Perfect!

The history files: Nike Air Max

Nike Air Max is an instantly recognisable sneaker franchise around the globe, whether you’re a sneaker head or a sneaker snob. But who is the mastermind behind this famous Swoosh franchise? What is the point of a trainer full of air? Let us explain…

An icon was born

Nike first introduced its revolutionary Air Cushioning Technology in 1979, changing the way athletes approached their running shoes forever. By 1987, the science behind the air unit in the shoes had advanced rapidly, meaning the cushioned air unit was bigger and comfier than ever before. This is when Nike decided to make the air unit visible, creating the first Nike Air Max trainer.

From here on out, there was no going back. People wanted the air bubbles, the comfort, the style. The trainers worked for both running and fashion, making this design a game changer from day one.

Now for the geeky stuff, and it might surprise you.

Former NASA scientist M. Frank Rudy discovered that he could take gas and pump it into a bubble that could be placed into the sole of a trainer, cool right? The problem was nobody would take him on, until he knocked on the door of Nike, and as they say, the rest is history.

Whilst some of the air bubble is visible in the Air Max soles today, what you can’t see is that the bubble actually runs almost the whole length of the sole. This air pocket changed the running game instantly, with its reactive nature to the wearers bounce and stride providing both practicality and comfort.

Over the years, the air quantity and location has developed, typically providing more air, less rubber and a lighter high performance running shoe.

The Air family

The Nike Air Max 1 wasn’t alone for long, with the lesser talked about Nike Air Max Light released just two years later, boasting an even lighter sole – as the name would suggest. The sneaks were then designed, developed and released within quick succession of each other, each offering different silhouettes and colourways with the same Nike Air technology.

For Air Max Day 2019, Nike are foregoing their tradition of launching a new limited edition sneak, and are instead launching their ‘Give Fresh Air’ campaign.

Nike released the following statement about the campaign:

“With the launch of the Air Max 1 in 1987, a revolution began. In the years since, Nike and ‘Air’ have become synonymous while expanding its loyal following.

Although March 26, 1987, marks the beginning of the epic Air Max journey, this Air Max Day launches a new chapter focused on taking action. We know that change happens when people come together. Give Fresh Air is a rally cry to unify sneaker culture around a shared passion to ignite change. Nike and our partners will create ways to give ‘Air’ to support local organizations and champion the power of community.

Our launch this Air Max Day won’t be a shoe but a call to action to pay it forward. 3.26.19 will not be about buying sneakers, it will be about giving them to others. We will leverage the power of the Nike network to elevate and heroize these stories and in the process champion one of the largest sneaker drives in modern history. This Air Max Day, don’t buy. Give.”

This may come as a shock to sneaker heads around the globe, however Nike have confirmed that any previously planned releases will still be coming out over the coming months.

Although there is no professional women’s league in Britain Jess doesn’t let that tiny detail stop her. Smashing stereotypes and historic sexist expectations of women Bend It Like Beckham is bound to make any female feel inspired.

Wonder Woman

We all love a female superhero and let’s be honest Wonder Woman is the ultimate female hero. She looks fierce but doesn't use her looks to get what she wants- she uses her strength. Originating as a DC comic character in 1941 the character has been an iconic symbol for women around the world for a long time and the 2017 film cemented that.

During the film Wonder Woman, aka Diana, a warrior in training leaves home to fight a war and if you’re looking for a female-led action film you won’t be disappointed.

Legally Blonde

Bear with us on this one. Although at first glance you might think this film is definitely not going to empower women- this is where you are wrong. The character of Elle Woods is the exact reason why we should never judge a book by its cover.

After being dumped by her boyfriend she applies to Harvard Law School to get back at him and well simply bosses it. Played by Reese Witherspoon, Elle is bound to make you feel powerful whether you’re male or female.

Mulan

Yes, Disney can still be empowering. If you look past the (catchy) songs there is actually a very strong message in this film. When Mulan poses as a male soldier to stop her father having to join the Chinese army she is first seen as being weak but still an equal.

Mulan proves herself (as a man) but when her real identity is revealed she continues to be indispensable and highlights the issue of women being able to do whatever men can.

International Women's Day 2019: Women in sport

Whilst we believe in celebrating women all day every day, a whole day is dedicated to women and we are here for it.

International Women’s Day falls on the 8^th March and is an annual and global celebration of the many steps women all over the world are making day in and day out in the fight for equality, recognition and respect.

We thought we’d take a look at some of the women in sport who are absolutely smashing it. This isn’t about beating the boys or going one better, it’s about being seen as their equal and it actually not being a shock that hey guess what? Were female and we did it!

The England sports teams
Our male sporting team’s efforts in various national or international sporting events are always heavily documented in all forms of media, but unfortunately our girls are always left behind with little screen time.

Here’s some quick facts for you to digest and take away with you…

The England women’s football team came 3^rd in the world cup
Our women’s cricket team are ranked 2^nd in the world
Our netball team are ranked 2^nd in the world
The England rugby team who are also second in the world.

Alex Scott MBE
On her way to becoming a household name, Alex Scott is making movements to normalise women in sport, particularly football.

The former right-back had a long and successful career with Arsenal, as well as 140 appearances for England and representing us in the London Olympics. Her long list of achievements on the pitch have enabled her to open her own academy specifically for women – the first of its kind in the UK.

She can now be found on BBC Match of the Day and Sky Sports. Smashed it.

Nike
Not quite a person, but a big dog in the sporting world that has been championing women from the get go, Nike. Nike’s Dream Crazier film premiered at the Oscars last week and blew peoples socks off. The 90 second clip showcases some of the most powerful and inspirational women in sport with the dream crazy message prevalent throughout. This is huge. The impact a brand and video like this can have on the women of our future is so powerful.

Serena Williams
We can’t really talk about women in sport without mentioning the godess that is Serena Williams, can we? When we think of powerful, influential women in sport, Serena is always one of the first that springs to mind.

Besides dominating the court since 90s, Serena has also been the voice of encouragement and belief for current and future female athletes. Always one to take a stand, she has fought back against sexism and racism in the media not only for herself, but for her daughter and the women to follow after her.
If you needed any more convincing that Serena Williams is absolute goals, she won her 23^rd grand slam title whilst pregnant. *mic drop*

How to get the most out of Pancake Day

Whether you can flip them or not, the pancake is arguably one of the best treats created by just whisking together some eggs, milk and flour.

It is finally that day of the year where you can eat pancakes for breakfast, dinner and tea with no one telling you it’s excessive.

There are a lot of arguments about the best way to enjoy the circular treats but we’ve got five ways you can enjoy them without getting bored (as if that would happen anyway).

With Nutella
Arguably the most popular way to enjoy a pancake. Slather a healthy portion of your favourite hazelnut spread onto your pancake and watch as the chocolate begins to melt. Dig in using your knife and fork or just roll it up and eat it like a giant chocolately, pancakey burrito- yum!

Sugar and Lemon
Traditionalists unite! If you like to keep it simple and break yourself into pancake day easily this is for you. Spread as much sugar as you like over your fresh hot pancake and squeeze a fresh lemon over the top. We can guarantee you won’t be able to stop at just one.

Maple Syrup and Fresh Fruit
You can kind of argue that this option is pretty healthy right? Pick up some of your favourite kinds of fresh fruit. We’re thinking bananas, blueberries, and strawberries. When your pancake is hot out of the pan cover that treat in maple syrup and add the fruit. You can enjoy this with only half the guilt as you’re getting some of your five a day too (just ignore the syrup).

Ice Cream
We all scream for ice cream right? Get your favourite flavour and add a generous dollop onto your hot pancake and get mopping that delicious melting ice cream up like your life depends on it. Probably one of the messiest ways to indulge on Pancake Day but who cares.

Ham and Cheese
No we’ve not gone mad and yes you might think of it as the ultimate betrayal but give it a try. If you haven’t got a sweet tooth try a savoury pancake instead. Get your pancake cooking in the pan and add some cheese and ham before waiting until the cheese has melted to flip it onto your plate. It will change your life.
