"When I think about footwear I don’t just think about the shoe, my brain starts to go wild with all the possibilities of clothing that they would go with and how a pair of kicks can change your complete image. This is why I love them so much!!!"

Charlotte's pics

Tell us about yourself! My name is Charlotte, I’m 25 and come from East London but the most important thing about me is that I’m a major shoe fiend!!!

What are you wearing on your feet right now?At the moment I have on my feet a pair of peach cobbler high top Converse that I customised myself, with pearls on the toe-cap and swapped the laces for pearlised ribbon.

How long have you been collecting trainers?I would say I’ve been collecting trainers since I was about 14, as my Mum always told me when I was little that when my feet stopped growing I could have as many pairs of shoes as I wanted. I don’t think she meant it literally though.

Do you have regular clear outs or stash everything?I used to have a clear out every so often because I would buy a pair of trainers that I loved so much that I would wear them non stop to the point they became battered and needed to go in the bin, but now I have so many, I stash them all.

What were the first pair you were desperate to buy?The first pair of trainers I was desperate to buy would have to be the Air Jordan retro 6 in black/pink flash-marina blue, before these I had always just seen trainers then bought them, but these were sold out everywhere which made me want them even more. I was so determined- I ended up having to ship them in from the USA.

What other shoes do you tend to wear?Apart from Jordans & Air max 1's you can probably catch me rocking some Vans, Converse or if its a bit nippy some Dr Martens. I do own a few pairs of high heels but these only come out on rare occasions where my friends and family have banned me from wearing my trainers.

How many pairs do you have and how do you store them?I would say I have around about 100 pairs of trainers, last time I counted it was 93 but I’ve bought quite a few since then. All of my trainers are stored in my wardrobe, it used to be a walk-in one (now it has become a ‘crawl in on your hands and knees’ because there’s no room) they’re all in boxes with the labels facing forward so I can see what’s what.

"I think I have slight o.c.d when it comes to keeping my footwear clean"Do you have any that you've kept box fresh?I would class the majority of my trainers as box fresh as they have only been worn once or twice, and they all get cleaned before they are put back in the boxes. I think I have slight O.C.D when it comes to keeping my footwear clean, I get a little heartbroken when they become dirty.

What are you wanting at the moment? At the moment I really want a pair of Air Jordan IV 'green glow' but they’re not out ‘til 17/08 and even then I’m not sure if they will be released over here in my size, so may have to be a US purchase again.

What are your top three pairs that you currently own?Having to pick my top three pairs is like asking someone to pick between their children! If I have to pick, then I would say… Air Jordan 8 'Pheonix Suns', Nike Air Max 1s and the third is a tough one, but I would have to say my Hello Kitty sk8-hi D-lo Vans.

Have you ever re-purchased the exact same pair?I have tried to re-purchase a couple pairs of Jordans because I love them so much, but with Nike once they’re gone they’re gone! So at the moment I only have one of each pair.

If you HAD TO pick only one style to wear for the rest of your days- what would you go for?If I had to pick one style to wear for the rest of my life it would have to be Jordans, no doubt about it. I’m not sure what exact Jordans as there are so many to choose from- maybe either Jordan VII or the Jordan Spizikes as the Spizikes are a mix of a few different Jordan styles… I guess that’s cheating a bit though.

Kicks, sneakers, trainers, webs- what do you call your footwear?! Most of the time when I refer to my footwear I call them kreps, my two favourite footwear phrases you will find me shouting are "watch the kreps" or "don’t step on my kreps man".

What would be your ultimate brand collaboration, or if you could create a sneaker hybrid- what would it be?My ultimate sneaker hybrid would have to be a mix of the old school LA Gear with the light up soles that we all used to rock when we were like 8, crossed with some sort of Nike hi tops probably Jordans and maybe chuck in a little glow in the dark material or pattern somewhere. Sounds mad, but I think they would look amazing- especially with some denim shorts, a vest top and some Ray Bans at a festival!

"Right now I only own 30 pairs, all scattered round family and friends houses (oops!) I tend to forget what I have from what I don’t, but quantity doesn’t matter to me, it’s always been about the quality and comfort of a shoe and how it’s been put together"

Asha's pics

Tell us about yourself!Hi guys, I'm Asha, 22, from Leicester. I've just finished my final year studying Footwear Design. I’m a girl that likes designing kicks and wearing them but not just for the way they look, also for the way they increase my performance. I’m not much of a girly girl, but I do love matching socks and dresses to go with whatever sneaks I’m wearing. I love tattoos, prints, textiles, blogging, bright clashing colours… not to mention food. I can be a little bit of a tomboy, so I lean towards men’s high-end fashion, as I adore the luxury and quality of products… however my fashion sense is more influenced by street culture.

What are you wearing on your feet right now?On my tootsies I’m wearing my Nike Stefan Janoski Zoom’s in British tan dark brown, ‘cause they’re super duper comfy- I’m not much of a skater but the comfort is definitely good for my feet. Not only do they feel good they are smart looking too, I particularly like how the gum sole compliments the tanned suede upper.

How long have you been collecting trainers?I’d like to say I’ve been collecting since 2008 but it may be a lot earlier than that I’m not sure. It all started on ebay, I slowly but surely became addicted to finding bargains! Trainers were not really on high demand back in the day, so I used to scoop up pairs for like £15-£20. It was great fun until my mum started complaining about how many shoes I owned. By the time I started uni however, I stopped collecting and started selling.

Do you have regular clear outs or stash everything?Yes I definetly have clear outs to make room for more sneaks and to help out girls/guys that want a cheaper pair of sneaks, worn but still in good condition. Selling sneaks has become more and more easier as the years have gone on. It’s easily accessible and has become more and more in-demand.

What were the first pair you were desperate to buy?The first pair of sneaks that I was desperate to buy would probably be the Nike Huarache acg pack brown/violet, they came in three different colours and I was very determined to grab at least one pair. I picked those up from a shop in Italy.

What other shoes do you tend to wear?I admit I wear Nike all day most days- I’m very dedicated! They consist of a mix up or Cortez’s to Jordans. I also wear a mixture of Vans and Converse, you really cant go wrong with a traditional basketball shoe. My Converse hi black/white or Vans old skool blk/white have both kept their shapes for god knows how long and look good with absolutley anything

How many pairs do you have and how do you store them?Right now I only own 30 pairs, all scattered round family and friends houses (oops!) I tend to forget what I have from what I don’t, but quantity doesn’t matter to me, it’s always been about the quality and comfort of a shoe and how it’s been put together, along with what types of materials brands are now using. It’s always nice to see how brands reinvent themselves and make re-releases better.

"Save it for a rainy day just doesn't come into consideration!"Do you have any that you've kept box fresh?None at all, it’s bad isn’t it… haha ‘save it for a rainy day’ just doesn’t come into consideration.

What are you wanting at the moment?I’ve definitely been eyeing up some Roshe Runs at work!

What are your top two pairs that you currently own?Jordan Bred 11’s and Air Max 1s.

Have you ever re-purchased the exact same pair? No! The only shoes I tend to replace are Vans, Converse and Superga.

If you HAD TO pick only one style to wear for the rest of your days- what would you go for?Roshe Runs because they come in dreamy colourways, they’re like clouds for your feet, versatile and super duper comfy. Only thing is, they’re not water proof, ah wellll… protective spray anyone?

Kicks, sneakers, trainers, webs- what do you call your footwear?!I just call them trainers or kicks, boring I know!

You're a footwear designer, what would be your ultimate brand collaboration, or if you could create a sneaker hybrid- what would it be? I am a footwear designer, well, I’ve already done a project like this where I created a collaboration with Nike x Kenzo or New Balance x Staple.

"I buy mine on my lunch hour and wear them home that day – it’s really bad of me. I did have a pair of the Air Max 95 OG which were re-released earlier this year and they were sat proudly on my desk for so long, but I knocked over a mug of coffee and the tongue was the victim."

Lauren's pics

Tell us about yourself!Hi! My name is Lauren, I’m 25 and I live in Amsterdam. I’m originally from Liverpool, but I’ve been living here for around three years. By day, I’m a Social Media Specialist, but by night I write www.ironicfashion.com and run through the streets of Amsterdam listening to Justin Bieber, Florence and the Machine and Frank Ocean.

What are you wearing on your feet right now?Today I’ve got on a pair of black and white NSW Lunar Flow. I bought them in Amsterdam about two years ago from Precinct 5, which was the sister-store of Patta. They’re a clean, smart-looking shoe and I love the silhouette.

How long have you been collecting trainers?I don’t actively collect trainers but I just seem to buy a lot. I remember school-shoe shopping with my Mum when I was about 9, and when we were waiting for the lady to come back with my school shoes; I saw a pair of Nike Air Max Triax on the shelf, and was just like, I would love to own those shoes. My Mum bought me them, and I think that affinity and interest with trainers has stuck with me ever since.

Do you have regular clear outs or stash everything?Stash everything; in wardrobes, on bookshelves, under my bed, on my desk at work, under my desk at work... You get the idea.

What were the first pair you were desperate to buy?Like many kids in Liverpool in the ‘90s, I was desperate for a pair of Reebok Classics, but I was specifically after the white with gold detailing. I remember being so happy that I’d found them; they weren’t just a pair of trainers to do sports in, these were a proper pair of shoes that I was proud to wear.

What other shoes do you tend to wear?Does this mean shoes that aren’t trainers? When I go out, I wear huge wedges, they’re so comfortable but because I’m fairly tall for a girl (5’8) when I wear 8 inch wedges I end up towering over a lot of people.

How many pairs do you have and how do you store them- do you split them across Liverpool and Amsterdam?!Not actually that many; I’d say 70 or 80. I have most of them in Amsterdam, but I have a staple set at home in Liverpool so I don't need to take too many back with me; Converse, Air Max 1s and a pair of Free 3.0 if I want to run a little bit while I’m at home.

"I'm not one to buy a pair to wear and buy a pair to put on ice"Do you have any that you've kept box fresh?I buy mine on my lunch hour and wear them home that day – it’s really bad of me. I did have a pair of the Air Max 95 OG which were re-released earlier this year and they were sat proudly on my desk for so long, but I knocked over a mug of coffee and the tongue was the victim, but a little bit of Jason Markk fixed it straight away.

What are you wanting at the moment?I quite like the look of the Nike Thea, I think they’d be a nice little summer shoe as an alternative to a Roshe or a pair of Free.

What are your top three pairs that you currently own?- Flyknit Lunar Racer+ in Volt that came out last year; absolutely beautiful shoe.
- Janoski Digi-Floral.
- Air Max ‘95 OG; grey, black and neon. Scouse as you like.

Have you ever re-purchased the exact same pair?Only Converse! I’m not one to buy a pair to wear and buy a pair to put on ice! I wear them until they’re beaten, clean them up and then wear them until they’re beaten again. Saying that, I bought my first pair of Blazers in NikeTown New York when I was 16, and since then I’ve bought around ten more pairs. I’m still on the lookout for a pair of SB Blazer Mid in Black/White!

If you HAD TO pick only one style to wear for the rest of your days- what would you go for?I’d have to go with something simple, so I could match it with a lot of outfits, so maybe these Lunar Flow, or white Converse.

Kicks, sneakers, trainers, webs- what do you call your footwear?!Trainees, webs or trabbs. We don’t really say sneakers or kicks in Liverpool; you’ve got to stay authentic to where you’re from.

What would be your ultimate brand collaboration, or if you could create a sneaker hybrid- what would it be? Alexander Wang and Tier Zero NSW. Imagine that.
