As part of its centenary celebrations, Fred Perry has produced a customised Vespa scooter.

2009 is the centenary of Fred Perry’s birth and the company is celebrating in style. As well as releasing a new range of clothing to mark the occasion, Fred Perry has collaborated with scooter icon Vespa to produce a customised edition scooter carrying the Fred Perry logo.

Vespa Part of Fred Perry Celebrations

The very cool-looking limited edition Fred Perry scooter has been made available to just 100 buyers, who will love its sleek and sophisticated styling. With the Fred Perry laurel leaves on the front of the bike, and using the classic colour combination of cream and green, with brown leather seats, this is likely to become a design classic rather than just a celebratory one-off. The scooters, which were released for sale in August 2009 were only available in the US, UK, France and Japan. It’s a great collaboration for both brands, which both have a lot of street cred and are seen as ultra-cool labels. Whether you’re a scooter fan or not, when you see the pictures, you’ll have to agree that it’s the coolest-looking scooter you’ve ever seen!

100 Years of Fred Perry

Rather than the centenary of the clothing line, this celebration is all about Fred Perry himself. Without the tennis star’s desire to create great quality clothing for the court, the label wouldn’t exist at all. Staying true to its original purpose, Fred Perry sportswear is still one of the most favoured by tennis stars, and the great man himself would recognise his original styling in the company’s latest collections. The laurel leaf logo is one of the most instantly recognisable in the sports world and with a large segment of the business now focused on the casual sportswear fashion market, the brand is recalling its heyday when it used to be worn by subculture groups as a sign of status. The label’s special line of 100 polo shirts recognises the fact that fans are absolutely aware of who founded the label and why.
